EMST PARTICIPATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE, 2021
As part of the EMST Without Borders program, EMST participates this year again in the International Day Against Drug Abuse (June 26) and presents the online exhibition that emerged through the collaboration between the Museum’s Learning Department and the Social Rehabilitation Center of KETHEA ARIADNI, in Herakleion, Crete.
At the beginning of each month, during the period between April – June 2021, the members of the “creative team” of the Center “met” online with the Museum’s education curator Marina Tsekou, in order to get acquainted each time with an artwork from the EMST collection, to approach it experientially, discuss their thoughts and share their feelings. Until the next meeting, the members of the team illustrated through their own artistic creations the experiences, feelings and thoughts that the works of art had evoked.
Through this process, the 20 paintings included in the exhibition emerged. The works from the EMST collection that inspired their creations are: Yorgos Gyparakis’ Nocturnal Landscape, 1998, Mona Hatoum’s Fix It, 2004 and Costas Tsoclis’ Wayfarer, 1989.
Program curated by: Marina Tsekou, EMST Education Curator, in collaboration with Ms. Irini Paraschaki, Therapeutic Care Worker, and Mr. Manolis Daskalakis, Head of the KETHEA ARIADNI Social Rehabilitation Center.
