Smartify at EMST

The new, free-of-charge Smartify app helps the public connect with art, bringing together more than 30 museums and organisations internationally. EMST is the first museum in Greece to participate in this global art app, with the exhibition “New Acquisitions (2014-2017) of the EMST Collection”. The exhibition is completed, but the audience still has the opportunity to look back at their favourite scanned works via the app. All artworks of the permanent EMST Collection will be on view through Smartify after their installation in the museum.

Smartify uses image-recognition technology to enable visitors to scan artworks with smartphones and tablets, uncovering information about a specific artwork as well as creating their own ‘personal’ collection.

The application is also into use in important museums and foundations abroad such as the National Gallery and Royal Academy of Arts in London, the Metropolitan Museum of New York, the Rijksmuseum in Netherlands, the Hermitage Museum in Russia and many more.

The application is a social initiative supported by the European Union and Innovate UK, a UK governmental organization.
