#NarcissusMeetsPandora is an innovative two-year project aimed at young people, teachers and educators, and all civil society who wish to participate. #NmP begun in October 2020.
Working on the portrait image in social networks, #NarcissusMeetsPandora starts from an everyday habit – the sharing of portraits and “selfies” – to problematize, through pedagogical and artistic experience, the production and visualization of content for social media.
#NarcissusMeetsPandora aims to develop digital and visual skills, to stimulate the critical participation of young people in social media, promoting their capacity of reflection and expression, along with their social involvement.
In a changing society, social sustainability requires the involvement of teenagers and young people in creative and dynamic learning processes, taking advantage of intercultural dialogue to value diversity and positive attitudes.
This is an Erasmus+ project (for the years 2020-2022), carried out by a multidisciplinary team, from culture, education and research.

26/5/2022 MULTIPLIER EVENT – The EMST Learning team introduced the #NmP Educators’ Guide and workshops in an experiential way to a group of secondary school educators. They were thrilled with the proposed #NmP arts-based activities for students.
7-9/3/2022 TRANSNATIONAL MEETING at Casa da Imagem in Porto, Portugal. Partners discussed, evaluated and edited the pilot workshops that were implemented so far and scheduled the next steps of the project.
9/2/2022 One more #NmP pilot workshop took place in Greece, at the Multifunctional Center of the Hellenic Red Cross, Athens. Together with the educator Sigurd Goth and the EMST education curator Marina Tsekou, fourteen adolescent refugees from different countries participated in the workshop entitled “Contemporary portrait and self-representation”. Participants discussed about the themes of portraiture and selfies as well as young people’s habit of sharing photos of themselves on social media. After that, everyone created a series of self-portraits, which represent how they feel and / or who they are, their identity.
3/2/2022 Two #NmP workshops, focused on “Contemporary Portrait & Self Represenation”, were implemented at the Model High School of Agioi Anargyroi. Educator Christina Kalfoglou along with Marina Tsekou and Ioakeim Theodoridis from the EMST Learning team, discussed the themes of portrait in art and on social media. Two groups of 50 students from the third grade of the school participated vividly and after the discussion they created their own series of imaginative portraits, representing themselves and others, playing role-playing games and comprehending the relation between image and identity.
3/12/2021 The first #NmP workshop in Greece was implemented at Athens’ Multifunctional Center of the Red Cross. Eleven teenagers from the Congo, Iraq and Afghanistan participated in a workshop conducted by the educators Sigurd Goth and Rebecca Brandolo. In particular, the “Photobooth” workshop encouraged teenagers to discuss their thoughts about social media. Afterwards, they enjoyed taking photographs in order to share them in a close circle of friends or in public, thus understanding how images are connected to identities cultivated on an individual and collective level.
22-24/11/2021 LTTA MEETING: Learning, Teaching, Training Activities! The project’s partners met during a 3-day lab in Valencia (Spain), at LABA School of Art & Design, where they tested the educational workshops that are created for #NmP.
12-14/7/2021 TRANSNATIONAL MEETING: The project’s partners met during a 3-day lab in Brussels (Belgium), at Cultureghem, where they collaborated and further developed the educational workshops of #NmP.
