“I ACT FIGURATIVELY IN MENTAL TRAUMA”

The Department of Visual Arts of the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) in collaboration with the “GEFYRA” Therapeutic Community for mental health patients of the 6th Mental Health Sector of the Ministry of Health and the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens are organizing a two-day conference entitled “I Act Figuratively in Mental Trauma”:

EMΣT | National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens

During the first day of the two-day conference, professionals from the fields of psychology, psychotherapy and visual arts will offer participants tools and techniques that utilize visual expression as a means of relieving, processing and restoring traumatic experiences.

On the second day, a closed experiential workshop titled Catapult of Artificial Suns will be realized, inspired by the exhibition Theodoros, sculptor: In Lieu of a Retrospective.

The two-day event includes presentations and experiential workshops that attempt to highlight the contribution of art in the management and processing of psychological trauma.

It is intented for mental health professionals, artists, educators, students and anyone interested in learning how art can function as a bridge to relief and healing.
