“Co-Wayfarers at EMST” - An intergenerational workshop

February - December 2022

“Co-Wayfarers at EMST” – An intergenerational workshop in collaboration with the Goethe – Institute Athens

A new series of workshops are realized at EMST in order to encourage dialogue and collaboration between people of different generations or different cultural backgrounds, through their contact with contemporary art and the experience of the creative process. The program is based on two artworks from the collection: Costas Tsoclis’ video installation, “Wayfarer”, 1989 and Carlos Motta’s installation, “Graffiti cuts: Who owns the street”, 2007 – 2009. After getting acquainted with the two artworks and exchange ideas on the topics these works deal with, participants create in pairs a small cardboard suitcase, that they would hold as “wayfarers” in the course of life. Each suitcase can hide favorite objects, loved ones, memories, dreams and life goals. On the cover of the suitcase, words, slogans, colors and shapes express the attitude and beliefs of the participants as citizens of a society in which we all coexist.
