As part of her Domestic Scene series, Niki Kanagini created an installation of clay pots on which metal rolling pins were balanced, drawing from the worlds of housework and mundane manual labour. The clay pots allude to the age-old relationship linking the body to the earth, food, and nurture, while the metal rolling pins – kitchen utensils primarily connected to female labour – serve as symbols of repetitive action, toil, and discipline.
