On Friday, October 2, Cinema Rediscovered. 2026<\/em><\/strong>, in collaboration with \u0395\u039c\u03a3\u03a4, presents a screening dedicated to the work of Eva Stefani. The screening is part of the wider programme of the Hellenic Film Academy<\/strong><\/a>, which invites audiences to see Greek cinema again through a series of screenings featuring more than 50 fiction films and documentaries, from the 1950s to the present day. Six figures from different areas of cinema, each with their own perspective and point of departure, curate a thematic section.<\/p>\n

Afroditi Nikolaidou, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, includes four short documentaries by Eva Stefani in the thematic section \u201cAthens 1990s and 2000s: The City in Between?\u201d. How fitting, since Stefani is a filmmaker who turns a discreet, observant eye, turns to people and worlds that usually remain on the margins, seeking the paradoxical, the existential and the poetic in everyday life; a filmmaker who does not treat documentary as a recording of reality, but as a way of seeing it again.<\/p>\n

Life at Larissis Railway Station, a spring evening in 1995. Filmed over the course of four weeks, yet adopting the chronological structure of a single evening, the film unfolds as a gallery of people who frequent the station: homeless individuals, soldiers and migrants, all defining a space where different worlds meet and coexist.<\/p>\n

A fresh and unconventional look at the ultimate symbol of Athens and Greek identity. Drawing on a diverse range of materials (archival Super 8 footage, newsreels, vintage pornographic films), \u201cAcropolis\u201d is an experimental exploration that parallels the \u201csacred rock\u201d with the female body. While attempting this association, the film comments on the long-standing ideological exploitation of the monument while raising questions about the relationship between History and pornography. Narrated by Katia Gerou and Constantine Markoulakis.<\/p>\n
