VOICES 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EM\u03a3\u03a4 is pleased to present <em>VOICES,<\/em> a three-channel video essay about the history of channelling practices. The work weaves together archival material, found footage, and original content to trace the evolution of New Age spirituality, its symbiotic relationship with emerging technologies, and its role as a tool for personal and collective transformation. Following the european premiere of the work in 2025 at Kunstlerhaus Bethanien where Athanasiou was on a residency funded by EM\u03a3\u03a4, <em>VOICES<\/em> is now presented for the first time in the artist\u2019s home city.<\/p>\n<p>The work is deeply personal, drawing from the artist\u2019s experiences of channelling with her mother as a child and incorporating interviews with her grandmother, an artist in her own right. In this way, <em>VOI<\/em><em>CES<\/em> \u00a0functions both as a historical investigation \u2013 tracing a type of spiritual family tree \u2013 and as a poetic reflection on what it means to \u2018own\u2019 a voice. The act of channelling becomes a metaphor for transcending individual boundaries; a form of outsourcing deeply entangled with gender.
