Eva Papamargariti Soft Touch<\/em> explores the tactile dimension of our relationship with the digital universes. Touching a smart screen may be a substitute for touching our lover, it may be the start of a digital caress conveyed digitally to its remote recipient, but it may also be an autonomous, emotionally-complete touch to the device itself. Soft Touch <\/em>cites excerpts from scholarly texts, e.g., Plato or Derrida, and pop culture, e.g., Frank Ocean, to orchestrate around the central figure a choreography of gestures that may equally be caressing screens or bodies.<\/p>\n Eva Papamargariti\u2019s work includes the creation of 3D landscapes, sculptures extending into the physical world, videos and installations. She is particularly interested in relationships of cognitive and affective interaction between the multiple realities that we live in as well as the dynamic intra – connection and intra – action of events that occur in these systems. Papamargariti’s work delves into issues and themes related to simultaneity, the merging and dissolving of our surroundings with the virtual, the mundane and the extraordinary.
