EMST and autism

Why is a Contemporary Art Museum important for individuals on the autism spectrum?

In the museum, children, adolescents and adults on the autism spectrum are able to cultivate skills related to exploration, organization, recording and transmission of information through contemporary works of art. Through hands-on experience, individuals learn to make full use of their senses and enhance their powers of observation, their memory, and stimulate their imagination. Learning can be verbal or non-verbal, at the participant’s own pace, amongst other people or in a solitary fashion, with the aim of liberating free expression and the creativity of all those involved.

EMST invites all interested parties to explore works of art that raise contemporary issues, to learn through the process of engaging with them, to participate and collaborate.
